HO HO HO!

Can you believe it’s nearly 2015? Christmas came early this year,
with this years’ planting season being kind to farmers, the crops were planted
on time and generally went into ideal conditions.

Overall seed came out of the coolstores in good condition and with very
few issues. Seed set size in some varieties was smaller this year due to the late
planting of crops last year. Unfortunately, many seed growers were not attaining their target size.

The good news though, both Andrew and myself have been travelling around crops lately and have found them to be in great condition with some of the early planted crops less than a month from harvest.

Hopefully the season continues to be kind and sets us up for a good harvest season.

Until then, please continue reading and catch up on all that has been Cherry Hill in the last few months. We’ll introduce you to our Farm Hand Wayne, you can find out who won our dinner at Rock Wall and you can get a sneak peak at what Santa has brought us for Christmas. We’re really excited about this.

Merry Christmas to all and we hope the man in the red suit finds you,

Brenden and the team at Cherry Hill Coolstores

OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SURVEY

We have a winner … Well done Wolfgang!

Congratulations to Wolfgang Stillger, the winner of the random draw in our survey
competition. Enjoy your steak at Rock Wall!

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey. We like to know what you think we do well, and we need to know what you think
needs improving. The common theme that you said could be improved is
communication and the paper trail associated with seed movements.

We are working on this.

Again, thank you to everyone who completed our survey. For further feedback
please let us know by emailing us at admin@cherryhillcoolstores.net.au or phoning us on (03) 6426 1590.

TESTIMONIAL … “DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM IS A PLEASURE

“Cherry Hill Coolstores have been cutting and storing our potato seed for approximately
seven years. During this time I have developed a strong working relationship with the entire team including both management and staff.

I am greeted warmly from the time I enter the gate and it makes doing business
with them a pleasure. Andrew and Brenden are happy to share their knowledge
and expertise which, in turn, has lead to a boost in our productivity and an overall
better bottom line.

I also find they are happy to ‘go the extra mile’ in the service they offer and their
‘can do’ attitude to everything is refreshing.”

INTRODUCING WONDERFDUL WAYNE!

Wayne Maxwell is a real surprise package.

Loved around Cherry Hill by everyone that meets him, Wayne Maxwell laughs when asked if he has a nickname, replying “they call me anything!”. Wayne explains his role as a Farm Hand means he is involved in every aspect of the business, farm and factory.

“They call me anything and I do everything!”

Growing up in Gawler, just behind Ulverstone, Wayne is a local lad who now resides in Turners Beach. For the past nine years he has called Cherry Hill his main employment, however Wayne is active in the community with a few roles and has his finger in quite a few (Christmas) pies!

Being busy comes naturally to Wayne who before starting at Cherry Hill held a variety jobs. “As a kid I worked for my father in the Gawler shop (that incidently my father built). I also used to do the mail runs and I was working on the farm driving tractors way before I was old enough to!” Wayne’s first real employment was at the Gunns Plains Hop Farm, where he worked for 26 years from the start to finish of the business prior to starting at Cherry Hill. Now his days are filled with a variety of roles as he takes charge of seeing to the daily needs of the farm (including 300 odd cattle) and factory. Primarily working on the bulk unloading and loading cut sets and the trucks, Wayne also mends the fences and pallets at Cherry Hill and sees to general maintenance as required.

Outside of work there is still no rest for the ‘not-so-wicked’! Wayne is a keen fisherman who often ‘out fishes’ Brenden we are told! He’ll fish anywhere, anytime and any way – well skilled in fly fishing or using bait and lures. Asked where he has fished, the reply “where haven’t I fished!” Having been taught by his grandfather at a very young age,
Wayne remembers he caught his first fish on fly at just eight years old.

And the big surprise… Wayne has a green thumb! When not away trying for the next big catch Wayne enjoys gardening and tends to six properties other than his own around Turners Beach.

We are so thrilled to have Wayne at Cherry Hill. It’s true to say he’s a real catch!
