SEASON REPORT

Welcome to our Spring newsletter. The cold Winter weather has provided truly ideal conditions for the many agricultural industries in Tasmania. The cold temperatures have exterminated bugs in the ground and put paddocks in a really great situation for Spring.

We are looking forward to the upcoming warmer weather with anticipation of a great season ahead. We are delighted to say that the condition of seed is looking fantastic.

Pictured: Wayne driving the 5-tonne fork lift.

Wayne has officially reported “Seed is coming in, going into the cutting shed, it’s getting cut and moved into the drying shed, and then we put it away again” and “in general, seed doesn’t look too bad” he said. Thanks Wayne!

“A reminder for all Innovator growers to get seed warmed up now so it starts shooting, ready for planting in the coming weeks”, Andrew Vandenberg, Agronomist.

We are fully prepared, and it is full steam ahead for your Spring cutting, so please book us in if you haven’t already.

Get in touch with Conor, to let us know how many tonnes you’d like to order for your next planting contract.

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to Autumn,
Your team at Cherry Hill Coolstores.

POPPY GETS HIS OWN ROAD

Have you driven on our new Poppy’s Road?

In an effort to streamline vehicles entering and exiting Cherry Hill Coolstores, we’ve created a new exit road.

With visiting truck numbers on the increase and the addition of our second bulk unloading station launched early this year, we felt it necessary to improve the vehicle flow through our facilities by making easier routes for your drivers.

Entry: nothing has changed here – please drive in and report to reception, as you do normally.

Exit: a new exit road has been provided for you. Once you’ve finished your unloading or loading, please exit via the new Poppy’s Road. This new road re-joins to the same road you arrived on.

If you have any questions about the new route, give us a holler.

PotatoPal Advantage - Reports on iPhone

APP LAUNCH
It’s true, it’s here, and it’s your advantage!

The mobile PotatoPal App has been around for many years already, and it facilitates much of our internal workflow.

When your seed arrives to us by truck, the journey of data inside our App commences. Even before this happens, actually.

Background info for the geeks

The App manages everything from pre-receival data received, bulk unloading, grading and sizing, EOI and allocations, cutting and quality control, dispatch and returns, and adjustments, the management of empty bins, all our invoicing which connects to Xero, our reports that we send to you, labels that we print, and a log of all weighbridge stations. It’s truly amazing what this little App handles each day.

How does it work?

Every time your stock moves or breathes at Cherry Hill, we record this. As soon as it’s unloaded by our bulk unloading equipment, this data is saved. We know how many tonnes you have, whether it’s in one of our new two-tonne bins, whether it’s been cut and sold to another grower. We record what paddock you told us it came from, what the TIA scientists have assessed and reported, and much more.

Note: if you’re a grower or a buyer, the Group information will be locked to your details only.
But you can sort your data by date, paddock, seed variety and generation. You can view a report on screen or email it to yourself.

What does this mean for you?

We’re delighted to announce that you can now use our PotatoPal Advantage App and view a variety of reports, that are all about your stock.

If you’ve ever wanted to know at 4am how much you grew or bought, whether it has been cut and what it was cut into, the results from your recent grading and/or sizing, or quickly view a ‘stock on hand’ report… then you should be very excited by this news.

How do I get this App onto my phone or iPad?
Visit the Apple App store and search for PotatoPal Advantage.
Contact Iris on (03) 6426 1590 or email iris@cherryhill.net.au to gain your login details, and away you go.
Note: coming soon for Android users too!

McCAIN’S TRIP INCLUDES FACTORY TOUR

Pictured: Aerial view of the McCain Foods french fry plant in Smithton.

We had a great trip to the McCain’s Smithton factory in late August. Rodney Smith took us for a tour of the facilities.

While on site, we visited the Operation’s Analyst, Anne Gillan, who manages Grower payments. We proudly demonstrated for Anne how to use our new customer App, and the many types reports that are available in it – and she was pretty excited.
